DSI Automates Toner Ordering/Meter Readings
Following a successful three-month trial, new software provided by Duplicating Systems, Inc. (DSI) will mean that customers no longer have to worry about ordering or running out of toner on a major project.
According to DSI President Ken Scoville, a study of around 100 customers was so positive that the company, which provides multi-function copiers and mobile printing and scanning, are now rolling out the service to new and existing customers. “We are now including the software on all new copiers and are expanding the service to other customers,” said Scoville.
According to Scoville, the software provided by Print Tracker sends an automatic message to DSI when a customer’s remaining toner reaches 25%. Previously customers had to contact DSI personally either by email or by phone when toner was required. “We are able to get a toner cartridge to the customer in ample time for replacement. It allows DSI to be proactive in servicing our customers’ needs,” says Scoville.
Scoville said that the software also provides meter readings automatically. “Typically, we must call the customer for readings, which means the contact has to leave his or her desk to go to the copier and give us the reading. The new software saves the customer time and avoids interruptions.”
Scoville says that Print Tracker requires little or no involvement with clients’ IT department. Meter data pass securely through firewalls using the HTTPS protocol, similar to how a web browser communicates with banking websites. It is used in banks, hospitals, schools— any place with high security needs, he says.
